Ms. Bertha Underwood was born in Stamps, Arkansas some 40 or more years ago. After 31 years of living in Oakland, California, she now considers herself an Oakland native.
Her career has been devoted to creating works of art and teaching her craft to a long list of students. While she enjoys teaching her craft, her favorite vocation remains as a designer and creator of fashion accessories for women.
Currently she works as an Adult Instructor for the Oakland Unified School District at the Pleasant Valley Adult School where she teaches courses where students learn to create hats, purses, shoes, scarves, gifts and women's accessories.
